We
have a passion for RACING, with our weekly club races and members
participating in regional events.
The "SANDY GRANT"
is a steel trawler serving as the "Club Race Committee Boat".
A club race committee conducts Wednesday Night club races. Sandy
Grant is
also used by the club for events approved by the Board of Directors.
Club races are held each Wednesday night from the end of May
until mid-September. There are several classes of boats accommodating
both keen racing sailors, average crews, and beginners. Some starts are
for spinnaker equipped yachts. The club has a Skipper Mentor Program during
the spring that matches experienced racers with beginners. The Mentors
sail with the beginners on their boats.
MCC members participate in several regional regattas.
The race results are announced at the popular post-race
dinner. Members of both clubs may race actively in both clubs' weekly
races. The Tuesday (EYC), Wednesday (MCC), and Thursday (EYC), races are
run under the Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHRF) for Lake Ontario
(see their
web site for
more information on that subject).
